How to look after each piece.
Every listing carries a care line. This page gathers them by material, so you know what a piece needs before it arrives.
Stoneware and ceramic
Wipe, do not soak.
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry. Do not put ceramic or stoneware in the dishwasher, the microwave or the oven, and keep it away from sudden changes of temperature.
Some vases are not watertight, and the listing says so. For fresh flowers in those, use a glass liner. Our bowls are decorative objects, not intended for food contact.
Glass
Rinse by hand.
Rinse by hand in lukewarm water and dry with a lint-free cloth. For a cloudy line left by water, fill the vase with warm water and a spoonful of white vinegar, leave it an hour, then rinse. Avoid pouring boiling water into cold glass.
Travertine, marble and stone
Keep it dry, keep it off acids.
Stone is porous. Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth, and keep lemon, vinegar and wine away from it, since acids mark the surface. Set it on a felt pad or a tray if it sits on wood.
Brass and metal
Let it age, or polish it.
Brass darkens with time and touch, which is part of how it looks. Dust with a soft dry cloth. To bring the shine back, use a brass polish and follow its instructions, then buff dry.
Candle holders
Never leave a flame alone.
Never leave a lit candle unattended. Place candle holders on a heat-resistant surface, away from curtains, dried and faux stems and anything that can catch fire, and let them cool completely before you handle or clean them.
Faux flowers and stems
Dust, and keep out of direct sun.
Faux stems need no water. Dust them with a soft brush or a hairdryer on the cool setting, and keep them out of direct sun so they hold their color. They are not edible and they burn: keep them away from flames, children and pets.
